The influence of cell format to Li-ion battery thermal runaway
A novel multidimensional sensor study was carried out to better understand battery thermal runaway, a dangerous event where a battery overheats. This research helps improve the safety of battery applications, such as electric vehicles. The study found that prismatic battery cells are safer than pouch battery cells because they have better thermal resistance and mechanical strength.
