Can Craft be the Future of Work?
Many employees feel dissatisfied with their work. They feel that they lack meaning and the ability to express their creativity at their workplace. Many also feel that their work should have a positive impact on sustainability. My research aims to do something about these problems by studying a specific form of work which is called craft. I am interested in whether and how craft could help improve work processes and designs, For my research I have talked to and observed many different craftspeople about what motivates them, how they organize their work and what problems they have.I use these findings to make suggestions of how single organizations could change their work processes to create more meaningful and sustainable work.
