My research focuses on ageing in large truck batteries. The problem with such large batteries is some parts age faster or differently than others, which brings down the entire system.

I am a ‘battery coroner’ of sorts, I open up batteries to uncover their causes of ageing. To do this I use tools that help me evaluate what I can see , such as images from a camera, thickness of the cells and also tools that helps me understand what I can’t see with my eyes, such as fancy microscopes or electrochemical tests and other advanced techniques .

By understanding how and why batteries fail, we can make them last longer. My goal is to provide ways for batteries to live a longer and healthier life.
