Cellular Reprogramming – Hacking Bad Cells to Become the Good Guys
Our immune system exists to protect our organism from diseases. But cancer is a smart enemy that finds ways to hide and pretend to be a good guy. To make the immune system recognize cancer again and start the big war that will eliminate it, we need to be smarter than the enemy. In my research, I put on a lab coat and become a hacker. Not a computer hacker, but a cell hacker. I focus on finding ways to change other cells into becoming immune cells to fight cancer. By interfering with a cell’s genetic code, I can reprogram it to become an immune cell fighter. And if I can do that with other cells, I can even reprogram the cancer cells themselves. That way tricking cancer into becoming its own enemy
